The retreat story
Retreat Vacation Rentals is a husband-and-wife-led team, founded in 2021.
We started Retreat because we saw a real gap in the market. Homeowners with beautiful properties wanted to generate meaningful income from short-term rentals—but they were either burning out trying to manage everything themselves, or working with services that just weren't set up to deliver the expertise, systems, and care they deserved.
We knew there was a better way. Short-term rental success requires full-time focus, the right tools, and deep expertise across pricing, design, marketing, compliance, and hospitality. It's not a side gig—it's a business. And homeowners paying for professional management should get professional results and a real partnership.
So we built Retreat to be both. We merged our education, experience, and passions to create a business we genuinely love to operate—and one that delivers the performance and personal attention our clients deserve.

Lina Calero BAH, MSW
Decorator & Guest Experience Lead
Lina leads the creative and guest experience side of Retreat. With proven expertise in interior decorating and a Master's degree in Social Work, she's equally obsessed with how spaces feel and how people feel in them.
That combination shows up in everything from room layouts and finishes to guest communication and conflict resolution. Lina oversees our design work, cleaning service and guest experience standards, and supports our team to deliver the warm, professional service that turns first-time visitors into repeat guests and glowing reviews.

When she's not transforming properties or ensuring seamless guest stays, Lina is often learning piano, reading or busy being a mom, shuttling our kids to gymnastics and guitar lessons.

Daniel Calero, BComm, B.Eng Strategy, Numbers and Buildings
Dan brings a rare mix of formal training and real-world experience to every property we manage. He has a formal education in Business (strategy & marketing), Real Estate, Property Management, and Civil Engineering, and spent several years working in commercial and residential design, construction, and asset management.
This background means he understands properties inside and out—from investment potential and risk management to long-term maintenance planning. His focus at Retreat is simple: help owners protect their investment while getting the most out of it.
​When he's not buried in market data or refining systems, Dan is usually playing board games or learning guitar with our two daughters, or out on a trail with our yellow lab, Jasper.
